its just your phone is carrier unlocked already and that is the reason you can use it with tmobile.
there are two ways to root your phone. it is by doing S-off using sunshine software or unlocking the bootloader to flash a custom recovery and flash super user using the custom recovery
I'm going to try some of this tonight, Looking up the guides now.
